Climbing is one of the fastest growing sports in Britain. It offers individuals and groups the chance to test themselves, keep fit, meet other people, and most of all enjoy the mountains and crags of Britain.

Cirrus Outdoor offers a large selection of climbing courses in Snowdonia and other climbing areas of Britain. The instructors and guides on these courses have many years experience of teaching rock and ice climbing, ensuring you have a safe pleasurable break, at the same time learning new skills or trying to improve your own climbing techniques.

introduction to rock climbing
This is for the person who has not climbed before or has only tried it once or twice, you will be instructed in basic climbing techniques including knots, belaying and climbing calls. The next day is spent on a multi-pitch climbing area putting into practice all you were taught on day one. On the five day course, you will have the opportunity to learn to lead if you wish.

inside to outside
Climbing walls are now an essential part of Britain's climbing culture. Many climbers are first introduced to climbing and rope work techniques indoors. Making your first steps onto real rock can be quite daunting. Our Inside to Outside courses are designed to help you make that transition as smooth as possible, allowing you to make the most of your climbing outdoors.

Previous experience: Experience of indoor wall climbing and some knowledge of basic rope techniques.

learn to lead
Designed for the person who has experience of seconding or who wants to make the move from the wall to the rock. During these breaks, you will be under the supervision of our Mountain Instructors who will advise you on placing protection, building belays, route selection and the use of guide books.

Previous experience: Previous experience: Knowledge of basic rope techniques and some experience of "seconding".

advanced rock climbing
During an advanced coaching programme, we will tailor the 2 or 5 day course specifically to your needs. Aimed at improving your performance so that you can get the most from your rock climbing, possible subject areas include training for performance, advanced rope work and pushing your grade.

Previous experience: Several years experience of "Leading".

rescue for climbers
This course is a must for climbers who want to move on to harder more committing climbs but want to be able to deal with any problems that may arise. During this break you will be instructed in various techniques such as escaping the system, assisted hoists and dealing with problems on a traverse.

Previous experience: Multi-Pitch Climbing experience.

extreme rock - snowdonia
Have you ever wondered what climbing an extreme route is like? If you have, then this guided break is for you. With many years experience of climbing and guiding at this level, our instructors and guides will take you on a tour of the most famous extreme rock routes of Snowdonia, including Cenotaph Corner, Cemetery Gates, Vector, Suicide Wall and Gogarth. Many more are possible on this course.
No. of Days Instruction: 5
Ratio: Up to 2 people per instructor.
Previous experience: Knowledge of basic rope techniques and some experience of "seconding" up to HVS.

classic rock - Snowdonia
This course is a total guiding break. Take a Mountain Instructor, guide books of the local area and you will have the chance to climb the classic routes of Snowdonia. All our Instructors have a vast amount of knowledge of the area, so will waste no time in guiding you up the best lines available for the weather conditions and your climbing experience.

snow and ice climbing

Winter climbing in the Scottish highlands is an incredible experience. It has been, for many years, the proving ground for young British Alpinists. Attracting climbers from all over the world, wishing to pit themselves against our most famous Scottish winter climbs and do battle with our unpredictable weather.

snow and ice climbing - scotland
Our winter climbing course has been designed so that the maximum amount of time possible is spent climbing routes. Our instructors will take you through the correct and safe use of ice axes, crampons and movement on steep ground. You will then move on to climbing steep snow and ice, before moving on to Scotland's famous mixed ground and finally onto icefall climbing.

Previous experience: Knowledge of basic rope techniques and winter hillwalking.
